Week 12 Part B - Online Business Tools and Me

For my research project this week, I investigated Groups on LinkedIn and free online tools for scheduling and making appointments. The scheduling tools are not related to marketing, but they would be important to a company trying to solidify a system for making online tutoring appointments. I would consider a scheduling site as a "business specific online tool." LinkedIn Groups I joined two groups on LinkedIn:  Math, Math Education, Math Culture (this is the name for just one group) Math Education The first group has about 58,000 members, and the second has just shy of 9,000. I noticed in the Math Education (smaller) group that only 3 people seem to posting and interacting regularly--that is, on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Those three members have been posting their own instructional content videos., which is a good way to self-promote. However, it also means that the group dynamic is a little dry. The first group about math, education, an culture seems a little more interes

Week 12 Part A - Business Specific Online Tools

This week in our Social Media for Business class we are exploring other online marketing tools, outside of the main social media platforms. If Rad Math Tutoring were more than a fictitious business and I were renting an office space, then I would assuredly use Google My Business and Google Maps. I hadn't previously thought if these as marketing tools, but being listed on these sites does make a business more visible--or just visible period. Currently, Rad Math Tutoring is flying very low under the radar. I haven't employed the next phase of my business strategy yet, which would be to create and post short content videos for fundamental skills in math: factoring, approaching word problems, and learning how to study effectively. I wasn't thinking of live-streaming the content, but that is something to consider after reading the lecture. My original plan had been to record videos and post on YouTube since I could have material that is prepared in advance and students could acc

Week 11 Part A - Twitter and Social Media Influencers

I came in to this week's assignment with a few preconceived notions. In the reading and exploration for this week, one idea was flat out wrong and the other is slowly changing. These were the assumptions that I came in with this week: 1. I was using Twitter correctly. 🠈 wrong 2. What influencers do is a scam Twitter The beginner's guide to marketing on Twitter was pretty thorough. It helped me see more clearly how Twitter and Instagram differ. I don't have a Twitter account for Rad Math Tutoring, but I was using Twitter to advertise the services for my current workplace. I was using Twitter in a similar way to how I was using Instagram--they both share photos and small quips. I would post at the about the same time of day and include the same content on Twitter as the Instagram post but with limited words. After reading the guide, I realized that I probably wasn't using Twitter in a way to bring out the best outcome. I don't have the capacity to be successful on T
